Demolition, 2006
Graduation project , Athens School of Fine Arts
An installation narrating the story of the demolition of my family house in Athens in 2006. Objects detached from the house, photographs, memorabilia, personal objects construct a large assemblage/installation, presented in a space of 70 sq.m in the Athens School of Fine Arts. A 6x2m collage of photographs documenting all stages of the demolition, expands in space through its continuation on objects and the floor, like a three dimensional histogram of the process. The installation space is separated in two parts by a window frame detached from the house. On the opposite side of the assemblage stands myself. On my body is projected a video montage of footage from the demolition overlaying an older performative action piece in which I tie myself up in a rope. I am present both as the creator and as the subject of the work, forming a part of the space.
