Stoneware ceramic sculpture, iron stand
Stonewater, 2023
Objects in wax and paint. They are derived from molds of slugs found in the area of Laverotiki and were created for the Laverotiki Art Project, 2023.
The sculptural objects are created from the same mixture I use to make oil stick paints in my studio. In this way,the objects transpose my practice from the studio to the landscape.
The Seer, 2022
Ceramic, 40x60x50cm
My ceramic practice is an extension of my painting, expanding my visual language into the third dimension. The objects I create reference natural processes and the body and are shaped through their own becoming, as forms fold into and interact with each other. Multiple-fired and process-based, these improvisational pieces explore liminal, in-between states, where identity remains fluid. Each piece emerges through an interaction between my body and the material; new compositions are sometimes formed by combining objects, including those found in the city, in nature, or the studio. Colour is an integral part of the process, applied during and after sculpting, and contributes to the ongoing metamorphosis of each form.
