I work with paintings from the history of Western art and images from popular culture and the news, reimagining the representations that construct my identity as a female and a painter. I reclaim the space of the female body in a way that defies objectification. Through the interaction between my body, my materials, and source images, new narratives develop, putting history into dialogue with the present moment. The paintings occupy the space between figuration and abstraction, invoking a sense of fleshiness as color and movement.
